Welcome to My Chess Blog. My name is Daniel Dutton. I have had a casual interest in chess for about 2 years. I know the rules, a few tricks and traps and some opening variations. I have no official rating but regard myself as an average player. I do not belong to a chess club but I play a few times a week on the ICC's website and GameColony.com with a win rate of about 40%. I have quite a few chess books that I started to study but got bored of after a few chapters and only go back to them when I have nothing better to read.

I have decided to make a determined effort to become a better chess player.

This website is a log of my path to chess improvement. I will record the study I do, the books I read, the games I play and anything else that has been of use to my chess advancement. The purpose is to help me ingest what I learn and maybe help others like me that are in a similar position. I am not a GM, IM or anything else. I have no chess-related title and so the content of this website should not be considered the views or writings of a chess expert.

The simple layout of the website is intentional. It is quick to download, search-engine friendly, easy to read and is fully accessible by anyone that wants to access it regardless of hardware, software, connection speed, screen size or physical/mental disabilities.
